Summary 2

Family Issues

In the portal, I accessed Library & Resources., then clicked on databases & e-books. I selected Environment and then Opposing Viewpoints in Context. I opted for Middle Family Issues and chose 3 issues Child Abuse, Home schooling, Teenage Pregnancy. For each of them, I memorized the causes and read them. I then printed out the 3 reports, producing a word document of 829 words. This is the summary.

As we all know a family lives like a team, parents are the coaches and kids are the trainees, they always learn from them, when a team doesn't cooperate together problems happens this is the same thing with a family, homeschooling, teenage pregnancy.

First of all, child abuse is harming a child sexually or physically and it depends on the country or religions some of the countries consider spanking as abusing, some of the parents consider hitting the child is a good way to make him learn from his mistakes but they dont know how would this effect his personality even in a physically way. There is a problem by defining child abusing and it is deferent in some religions, some depends on how much was the child humiliated, in other religions it is normal to have sex activities with children underage. Reporting child abuse is also a problem because sometimes they are afraid of the law and the consequence, and some even if they witnessed a child abused wont report because they think that it is a private family matter. Sometimes parents are the criminals they start to harm their children physically and sexually and it it is suspected bu anyone they must report then the court will deal with it. Sometimes governments dont have a good look on the abusing parents after spending time in jail and thats a reason why their children are again abused by the parents, continuing doing that will effect the children personality such as starting to think in a criminal way and sometimes they wil treat their children as their parents did to them. In addition such as these things could cause children to stop going to school and start homeschooling.

Most of the families think that studying at home provides their children with better education, some researches says that homescholing makes the child depends on his self and making better decisions, another reasons is parents are afraid of their children to get addicted to drugs and abuse issues, sometimes its a religion problem and parents dont want the children to mix up with other religions, to avoid making them confused and sometimes change their religions. In addition their are children with special needs because of physical or mental reasons so they need special treatment at home. One of the most important things is getting pregnant. The question is are they smarter? In spelling contests it shows that they mostly won in these contests. Disadvantages of the homeschooling is that children will miss some important studies, and parents are not qualified to teach their children in subjects such as science and math, another thing is that they dont get their proper certification to join universities.

Last thing is teenage pregnancy. Teenage pregnancy sometimes destroys the teenagers future, teenage pregnancy causes health problems such as giving birth to an ubnormal baby like a low weight birth. Studies shows that in the last years teenage pregnancy has increased, and this increases the expectations of spreading AIDs, which is considered as a serious disease that is spread by sexual activities, another reason of this issue is lack of harming from the government and schools, and having a lower income can cause this issue because of not having houses and living with other people.
